Hi I have 2 axolotls a melanoid and a lucy. They had an ammonia spike in their tank and so I’ve been tubbing them separately for about 2 weeks now. They have done really well but about 2 days ago I realized a clear/white film in the tubs so I got new tubs and scrubbed everything with only water. They are in new tubs now and when I went to water change and feed today I noticed his girls more curled than usual and bright red. I read about it possibly being from more activity or something but I don’t think that is it. I know it could possibly be from stress but I don’t know what to do to help de stress him. His tail wasn’t curled during feeding or anything it just is in the photos due to his position. After feeding they became darker, but I just wanted to post for any help!
I’ll put photos of how he normally looks vs tonight
UPDATE:
so it is the next day and his gills are still pretty bright and once again got darker during feeding.. he looks to have a tiny bit of fungus, I am not sure if possibly the clear/white film got transferred over to the new tubs somehow and possibly that is what is in his gills because this also happened to my Lucy so I have her a black tea bath and she seems to be a lot better so I am going to give my mel a black tea bath tomorrow and get new airstones and throw away everything that had slime. They are both eating normally and their tails are straight. Is there anything I should be worried about? I do 100% water changes daily. I just want my babies to be okay, I’m hoping their tank will be done cycling in a week or two so they can get back to normal. Any advice appreciated!!!

They look okay

Its likely still a stress response lighter melanin showing the blood flow underneath.

Keep up to daily water changes maybe make some IAL extract and use some everyday

Thank you! What is IAL extract? how could I make it/use it?

Indian Almond Leaf Extract

crush and boil a few Indian almond leaves
strain
cool the liquid and store in the fridge
use in the tubs
Oh wow I never thought of that! I had some IA leaves but I just through them out yesterday because I think they were starting to rot, I had them over a month and they were still intact but just didn’t look so good. I ordered some more and also cholla wood for their tank that should be here Friday but I will for sure try that! Thanks!
