Red gills turning purple?

I have a white axie that has red gills and to what seems as overnight they have changed to purple? Whys that?

ive throw an ice bottle in and they've gone white - must have been the temperature

i think they would go more purple due to blood flow- need more blood to the gills in warmer temps so they can get more oxygen. good to hear you sorted her out- be careful with the water bottles though, you have to continuously rotate them as large temp fluctuations are more stressful than a stable high temp. also fill the bottles with dechlorinated water, a member on here recently lost a axie due to the bottles splitting and letting out the nasty water into its tank
