So I released this morning my axolotls leg was red. I didn’t notice it yesterday not sure If I just didn’t see it or if it wasn’t there. I’ve had it since July 23rd. I keep it in a 20 gallon tank and feed dried blood worms every other day. I can’t tell if it is red leg or if it is an injury. I’ve been doing some projects involving paint, could the fumes contaminate the water and cause this? If it is red leg, how should I treat it? can I treat it? Should I fridge it? UPDATE: Alex is doing a lot better! The redness hasn’t spread to any other parts and it looks like it’s healing.

Looks like an injury. Keep the temp down and water clean. If the slime coat is damaged it may get fungus so keep an eye on it. Freeze dried bloodworms can cause intestinal probs, switch to chopped earthworm.

Thank you so much! 😄
