My sister just got her first batch if
axolotls, and I noticed today that one had an injured leg. It's red and turned up. I thought he had just injured it, but she just text me freaking out that the other leg is red now to. I had her send me a picture:

He's swimming and eating like normal , as in a lot. Im worried it may be septicemia. I told her to put him in the fridge. Anything else she can do?

The picture is a little unclear, but that looks like a bite wound to me. Is he/she in with other axolotls?
Fridging is good; however, t might slow down the healing process a little bit. Just keep an eye out for infection and funguses.
Just out of curiosity, how often is she feeding them? I had issues with bites a lot and then I started feeding more and my boys were much less snappy.

What I've heard is that for some reason axies heal faster in colder temperatures.

Keiko is correct on the healing faster in cold temperatures issue. Weird but true. I believe about 10 degrees celcius is ideal.
If they are young (under six inches), they may need feeding more than once a day. Hungry juvies can get very nippy.

Interesting! Could have sworn I read that somewhere but you learn something new every day.

I was finally able to get up and see the poor boy. He has a fuzz around his foot, and where the fuzz begins it looks like a bite mark. The other foot is missing a few toes. He does seem a bit thin, but he was eating alot before going in the fridge, and hes been swimming on his side a bit which has me worried. I gave him a salt bath and instructed her to do two a day until the fuzz goes away. Here's a pic of the fuzz

ouch...a bit thin is a gross underestimate....

I don't know if the picture quality is just not very good but I can't really see the fuzz, however at this point being in the fridge will make him not want to eat and as much as it slows down their metabolism you might not be able to get him to eat at all pretty soon, I think cool water and salt baths for the fungus would be much better than fridging because he is so thin.
