Hi,
If someone could please give me some advice I'd be really grateful. I'm very worried about our leucistic axy, Zissou. He is about 1.5 years old and has been fine his whole life, except for a small period of not eating about 3-4 months ago (turned out the filter had crashed, ammonia remover resolved the problem - thanks to people on here
). His water temperature was quite high last week (at one point it got to 24C before we noticed and switched on his fan) but had settled back down to ~20C over the weekend. When i noticed I was a little concerned, but he seemed quite happy and healthy.
He gets fed twice a week on axolotl pellets or earthworms and ate heartily on Friday when we last fed him. Then on Sunday we suddenly noticed he had white 'fluff' on his gills (photo) and was looking under the weather (slightly grey in colour, some red patches on his tail). We immediately fridged him and started a course of salt baths (using the sticky on here - thanks again!). He has now had 3 salt baths (one every 12 hours) and his colour seems to have improved but I have noticed that there are also white lumps/fluff on his groin area (you can just see this in the photo), and some darker patches on his tail (photo). I'm worried there's something other than a fungus wrong with him. His temperament seems fine, he panicked when i picked him up to go in the salt bath the first time, but as he's never been handled that's to be expected.
Basically my questions are:
1) What do you think is the matter?
2) Should I be rushing him to the vet or is continuing with the salt baths and fridging a better plan (how long should i continue with this before going to the vet if he doesn't improve?)?
3) Should i be feeding him while he is fridged?
Please help, i'm very worried
