What are redworms and are they okay for Axolotls? Thanks

Red worms, Red wigglers, compost worms, trout worms, etc., are all of the species Eisenia fetida. They're fine as long as your animal will actually eat them. When cut, they can release a foul-tasting chemical, and a few of my animals will refuse them.

My axolotl will eat them. I also feed him earthworms occasionally. Redworms are his main food though.

Oh and by the way redworms are just small earthworms. My 5inch axie eats them whole. They are about 2 inches long and pretty thin.

oh i think i have some of them. the place where we usually get the earthworms from only had the lil worms in so we just got them. my male spits them straight out and my female swallows them but regurgitates them all back up after half an hour or so. lol.

Redworms are not small earth worms. Earthworms are of the species Lumbricus terrestris, while redworms are an entirely different species, Eisenia fetida.

Claire, mine do the same. They usually refuse them, but if swallowed, will spit them out a few minutes later. My Taricha refuses them through and through, so I've just switched everyone to chopped earthworms.

Yea sorry bout that they aren't small earthworms I meant that they LOOK like small earthworms. sorry about the confusion.
