Hi all,
I am Renee and I have 1 axylotl and we are only 1 week shy of obtaining our 2 children's pythons (but that's for a different forum altogether)....
I have a husband and 3 daughters and live in Australia. I joined the forum after doing some research and found out that we have been stressing our poor axie out with too much water flow and warm tank temps. I wanted to know how other Aussie axie fans kept theirs cool.... Loving the dedicated axylotl forum..... See you there

Hi Renee,

Warm temps are indeed a (can't resist this) hot topic among Australians. If you search the axolotl forum for "cooling" you should find plenty of threads, and I'll wager a good 70% of them are by Australians. The Caudata Culture site also has a good article on cooling methods.

Welcome to the Forum!

Hi Renee

welcome aboard.

My daughter and i have 3 axies in 165 litre tank.
We can maintain a temp of 20 to 22 degrees C by rotating 3 two litre plastic drink bottles in and out of our tank. We fill them with declarinated water and keep them in the freezer.

Chillers are quite expensive.
