I've never had much luck with feeding them turtle food. If the salamanders get other more-delicious foods, they are likely to refuse them. It's not the ideal food in my opinion.
Not poisonous, but the vegetable matter in the pellets might cause problems with digestion.
If you want to feed pellets to your animals, go with a suitably formulated brand. There are "axolotl" pellets out there which are high quality.
Bare in mind, however, that terrestrial caudates are very unlikely to accept pellets unless trained to eat from tweezers.
