We used dechlorinated water with salt. 2-3teaspoons per litre/pint of water. Bathe your axie for 10mins (15mins max. as salt will burn them if any longer).
If putting in fridge and doing daily saltbaths:
Min temp of 5deg cel. (if unsure of temp, place a glass of water with thermometer into back of fridge, leave for 1/2hr-45mins then check it)
Use 2 icecream containers of dechlorinated water (margarine containers if your axie is smaller) and bottle of dechl. water;
Put a bottle and one of the containers into the fridge.
Add axie to 2nd container (if axie has floating probs, lower water so its just above axie fin, and its feet rest on bottom), cover with lid (no need for holes, colder water has more oxygen) then wrap container with teatowel and place in fridge.
Saltbaths shud be done twice a day.
Complete waterchange daily.
Offer food before doing a waterchange, but axie may not eat while in fridge as metabolism slows down.
When doing a saltbath use the dechl. water from the bottle in fridge to mix with salt (so its the same temp as water axie has just come from).
At waterchanges, do 2nd saltbath then, it's easier. Tranfer axie to saltbath, rinse/clean out container with baking soda and water, fill with dechl. water place back in fridge. Once saltbath is finished transfer axie to 2nd container of chilled dechlorinated water, put on lid, wrap and place back in fridge.
We have kept ours, at various times, up to 2 weeks in fridge (with temp of 5-6deg. C).
