I've never seen water slaters sold, but scuds can be bought from several vendors. I've used www.lfscultures.com (though I never got scuds). LFS is competent and have been in business a long time. Sachs also has them (aquaculturestore.com).
I was fortunate to find some scuds at a place that sells pond supplies. They gave me a bunch of them for free. They are also referred to as "freshwater shrimp."
My newts gobbled them up immediately. I would also like to find a way to buy a culture of them as the pond store is shut down for winter.
I have two salamander tadpoles and i have been feeding them macroinvertebrates from a pond near me ( Green Bay, Wi) and i was wondering where i can find live food for my salamander tadpoles?
Caitlyn, can you continue to use the pond invertebrates? If that works, it's a good option. The next best thing would be live blackworms. You can usually find them by calling all the pet shops within driving distance. Some shops call them live "bloodworms".
