Searching for Italian newts

I will be visiting central and southern Italy in June, to photograph reptiles and amphibians. I have localities for most of the species I'm interested in (vipers, Bombina, fire salamanders) but have no idea how to go about finding T. italicus. Any suggestions? Not necessarily precise localities just a feel for the type of place they might be and how to go about finding them. Anything you have would be appreciated. (Also Salamandrina, on the off-chance, but I think this will be the worst time of the year for them and I don't have time for a thorough search.) Please note I will be away from May 12 - 30 and therefore unable to answer emails etc.

Thanks,

Chris
