I have been searching but didn't find an answer to my this question. Is Driftwood recommended? If so, should I soak or boil to remove tannins? I have everything I need, I think, to start cycling except live plants which I would like. I'm going to wait until the water is ideal before getting an axolotl so any tips or trips are appreciated. TIA

some tend to boil the drift wood to reduce tannins and water acidity (always make sure to monitor ph) axolotls are quite happy in dark water but the ph needs to be at normal (7.4-7.6) range.

Thank you. I hadn't read on here if boiling was recommended but I think I might try to get some out
