Does anyone know if the cloacal sexing method works on juvenile Tylototriton? I have two 2019 offspring from Seth's (@sde 's) breeding which are now about 3.75 inches from head to tail tip. Externally one individual is considerably more heavily built, and the exterior of the cloaca is slightly different in terms of shape and pigmentation. The confusion arises when the cloaca is slightly opened, as per images on the tylo sexing thread here they both distinctly appear male. Another keeper with 3 individuals from the same breeding also reported their newts appear all male when using the cloaca to determine sex. I am currently considering trading to another keeper with a female if the presumption these are both male proves true, but I would like confirmation beforehand. Photos of both newts are attached below, and photos of the cloacae will be provided soon.
