Sexual Maturity

I know you can tell an axolotls sexual maturity if they have black toe tips. But how can you tell if a black axie is sexual mature because after all the whole body is black.

aparently their toes go a lighter colour, but i havent experienced this myself

yeah my wildtype axie has lighter tips on her toes.
