Yesterday I have noticed one of my newts had dull skin with a couple of white spots.I separated him in a plastic container and added a couple of drops of the antimycotic u use for fish. After 10-15 minutes I put him in clean water.Today I went to check him but he didn't seem to be much better. Can bacterial infection have these symptoms? In this case what do I do?

Can you post a pic, Francesco? Otherwise it's really hard to guess what might be the problem - if there is any...

I haven't got a digital camera and anyway it would be very difficoult to show in a pic.It has defenetly something because I've noticed these dull patches on his back and he is much slimmer than the other male probably because he's gone off food.I'm trying salt now

Shouldnt that be good for both fungi and slight bacterial infections?

be careful with salt, alpestris (especially alpestris alpestris) is quite sensitive to it!
I think you'd better let him going on land and keep him cool and quiet...

Too late...
I've done the treatment yesterday...
Luckily he doesn't seem to have suffered too much
