Hello,

My mudpuppy, Ginger, started showing some unusual behavior this morning by swimming around in the open and in a somewhat disoriented manner. I then noticed that she had suddenly formed a large tumor on her back left jaw. I'm afraid she has developed a rapidly growing cancer. Her back legs are also a little swollen and the skin on the upper joint of her front legs looks like its going to give through to the bone.

There have been no unusual changes in her care lately and her water parameters are fine. She was still feeding and behaving normally earlier this week, so this was quite alarming.

I've had her for almost 17 years now and received her as a larva from another forum member back then. She's at least 18 years old. I know salamanders aren't immortal, but I'm worried that this is the end of the road for my little girl. I'm not sure if there is any kind of treatment that I can provide her and there are no exotic vets near me either.

If any of you are familiar with tumors like this and whether they can be effectively treated, I'm all ears. I've attached photos of her left jaw and back legs.

Cameron
