Sick paramesotriton..

One of my paramesotriton refuses to eat.. its been not eating for 2 weeks already. And the most disturbing fact is that its skin colour has darkened to nearly black and it was grainy but now its skin is smoother than my CFBNs'! Its become skinny and it could be mistaken for a giant CFBN. No other newt in the tank appears to be affected. My tanks heavily planted and I do weekly water changes so the water is in pristine condition..
What should I do?

Try separating him. Paramesotriton are very aggressive and sometimes will bully a tank 'mate' to death. If he gets really bad, tube feed him som e baby food. I know it sounds stupid, but it saved my paramesotriton's life. If the skin is affected, it could possibly be a skin disease, look closely for very frequent shedding, blemishes etc.
Good luck
Chris
