Hello everyone. Not sure where to place this but seems fair in here.

I sometimes wonder what kind of size i actually should have when it comes to my tank. I can see the approx measurements but for 1 paddedtail newt what size minimum should he require?

Determining the proper sized enclosure can be awfully difficult. I've seen very heated discussions on the topic.

More is better obviously, but I would recommend a very minimum of a 10 gallon aquarium (50cm x 25cm x 30cm in Length x Width x Height) for a single paddletail as they are rather large. That same aquarium would be fine for two Chinese firebelly newts.

I'd also say temperament plays a huge role in stocking limits too. You could probably place more Pleurodeles newts in an 40 gallon breeder than you could paddletail newts due to the paddletail being more aggressive and territorial.

Does that help? I'd definitely recommend a 50cm x 25cm x 30cm enclosure for a single paddletail, but I don't know what I'd recommend for more than that.
