Thats interesting, I have had many newts and salamanders, and all of them, with the exception of the C. ensicauda that I have, eats their shed skin.
I wonder if that is a characteristic of this particular species to leave the skin behind.
I'm pretty sure I've seen my ensicauda eat their skin, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. These, by the way, are very well fed ensicauda so maybe that's a factor. 12 hours later and the skin is still hanging there...
