Hi,

I just came into possession of 3 Slimy Salamanders. I am told that they are native to the Oakville area of Southern Ontario, Canada. Can anyone out there provide a more precise ID?

I can tell you one thing, it is NOT a slimy.... It is a lead-backed phase of Plethodon cinereus if the location is correct.

Firedreams,

It's illegal to keep any native species in Ontario. Even though both phases of Eastern Redback are bountiful in Ontario, rules are rules. I hope you didn't pay for these animals... if you did, I encourage you to report the seller to the Ministry of Natural Resources.
