Small air pump powered filter

I am looking for a cheap filter for use in aquatic food cultures for probably use in 8 gallon tanks.I am hoping to split an air filter between two small air powered pump filters to provide slight filtration and air.
Can anyone recommend anything, I am considering using:
Algarde Biofoam 45 Aquarium Fish Tank Sponge Air Filter

I like sponge filters. They're especially nice in things like Daphnia tanks because there are no gaps they can get into.
