Small amount of fungus, salt bath?

My axolotl has a small bit of fungus on her gill. Is a salt bath routine necessary at the first sight of fungus or should I wait to see if it goes away on its own?

Be sure that it is fungus and not the slime coat. Photos would help

It's hard to get a good picture while she's in her holding tub. She had a prominent fuzzy thing on her gill yesterday, I'm pretty positive it was fungus. She thrashed around a bit while eating some worm pieces last night and the fuzz fell off. The spot under the fuzz was kind of disintegrated looking. Today she looks a little better, the fuzz is gone but there is still a strange looking thing going on with her gill. I am moving her tank upstairs for the winter because she is in the room with our fireplace and I don't want her temps to swing.

She has been sick for a month. I quarantined her in her own 20 gallon long a few weeks ago and have been feeding her every other day so she could put on weight, bit she is still really thin. That's my main reason for concern about the fridging/salt baths...

If she's thin but eating, you can feed daily. Just feed a little bit less than what you have been.

Since the fungus has fallen off, you might hold off on salt baths just to see what happens. If the fungus comes back, you may want to start salt baths.
