I don't know if this is good or not but I just noticed that there have been some tiny snails growing in my FBN tank. They seem harmless but should I get rid of them or just let them be?

Theres a good chance that they will eventually over populate the tank and you will literally have hundreds of them very fast. Keeping a few in isn't a bad idea to help eat some of the algae and left over food but keep a close eye on them. If they start breeding you might want to remove them. They make good food for most larger fish, especially loaches and puffers.

I'm sorry if i've missed the answer to this somewhere along the way. I might be making myself appear really dumb here! But, would snails in a paddletail tank keep the algae down, or would they
a) merely be too tempting for the paddletail
b) introduce disease

its good to keep a couple of snails in your tank, but they do breed EXTREMELY FAST! mum started off with one in her fishtank and ended up with about 1000! so if you decide to keep the snails, you wil have to clean them out reguarly.

Most of my newts will eat smaller snails, so overpopulation doesn't tend to be a problem. My problem with snails is finding ones big enough to keep algae down without being eaten! (aside from buying them)
