Here are some paddle-tailed newts that they had at a pet shop near me. They had them listed as firebellied newts for like $5. I wasn't pleased with the setup they were in. It was a 10 (or maybe even less) gallons with no land area, no hiding spots, it was very bright, and warm. They were all hanging out in those plants that you see in the picture. Poor things I wish I could have bought some so they can live better lives (they are my favorite newts too).

Nicole if you want to know what store they were in I can tell you.

Poor things. Don't buy them. That will make the petstore owners get more newts to sell. You could try telling them how to take better care of them.

I should of talked to them but I was rushed, don't live in the area, and the people working there were kind of strange.

Ryan, where was it? I can take my son and go there this week.

It was Aquidneck Aquarium in Middletown I think.

It was on 957 W Main Rd
Middletown, RI.

I'll take a ride when they weather clears up. One bad thing about historical houses....water comes in through stone rocks (with animals) and up through the dirt floor.

Do you plan on buying any?
As far as what they were being kept in they looked very healthy.

I just saw some Cynops most likely C. orientalis in a different petshop today. These newts were in a good setup except for the fact that there was fiddler crabs and firebellied toads in there with them!!!

Nicole if you want to know which store let me know. Have you checked out Aquidneck Aquarium yet?

Yes, let me know. And no I haven't gone yet. I'm still cleaning up from the storm. Hopefully, next week I'll be able to make it.

As for buying some, I don't know. My guys are all doing so well together I don't think I would want to stress them out with a newbie. Plus, they all have their own hiding place and a new one would intrude on them.

It was Critter Hut in North Kingstown.

I'll add it to my list of places to get to.

I want to go back to East Coast also to see what new amphibians they were able to obtain as well as food.

This is kind of off subject but Nicole could you let me know if East Coast has tailless whip scorpions and how much they are going for, I might get into that hobby as well.

I called them the other day and it sounded like they still only had fire salamanders.

I'll let you know. I know they have scorpions but don't know their names. Quite a few tarantulas too. A bird tarantula that was huge! It was hiding and I could only see the legs but from looking at them you got the idea of the size of the creature.

Nevermind, I called them, no whip scorpions till May. They still only have fire sals.
