hey. a few days ago i noticed my female axoltols arms were looking kinda swollen, i kept an eye on it but it went down on its own without a problem, but now i noticed this morning both of the arms are looking twice as swollen and on one arm the skin has broken. ive given her a salt bath, and put her in a separate tank, but i dont know what else i can do.
has anyone ever heard of this before? ill try and get a picture. the axolotl looks perfectly fine other than the swollen arms. what do i do??

Shane - if you have more than one axolotl my guess would be she is being bitten by the other axolotl.

Keep her separate and cool, watch for fungus. Minor bites usually heal without much problem.

If your axolotls are young I would keep them apart for a few months, and when you put them together provide more hiding spaces for them to get away from each other and make sure they are getting enough to eat.

hey. i dont think its a bite, they've been together for about 1 year now any havent even come close to biting each other. but its getting worse though whatever it is, i got a photo, they.... yeah look.

the big lump at the end is her hand. but the other arm looks worse. its kinda like its skin is peeling off... it looks horrible.

ive separated them and ive been doing salt baths daily. hopefully it will improve. what can i do know. does anyone know what it could be??
everything in the tank is fine and its been the same for a while i dont know what could have caused it.

i think the best thing to do would be call a vet or go see one if there is 1 in the area

Look like bites to me. They'll heal on their own, even if the skin falls off. Axolotls are master healers.
