Fire belly newt could apply to many species, but i assume you mean H. orientalis. I keep both H. orientalis and P. waltl, and i personally enjoy the H. orientalis more. The waltl are certainly still fun, though
I also keep both, as for looks Fire belly's have it in the bag but ribbed newts are a very unique and interesting species. I'm also partial to firebellys as they were my very first newt I got when I was a kid and launched me into this hobby.
For me, Ribbed newts, due to the fact that they grow pretty large, (Something I would like from a caudate) are easy to care for, and are oftentimes more likely to be CB instead of most fire-bellies in the hobby. Now granted, I have seen both species in person in two different spots where I could have gotten them, (An expo for the ribbed newts and a pet-store for the fire-bellies) but I still would have preferred the ribbed newts, as I could be sure they'd be CB, plus, I like their looks more
