Hey guys, I'm looking to get a couple newts for my paludarium build and I was looking for suggestions. I built a probably 60-40% water to land build with a light current (filter pulls water from one side and empties it into the other). I was looking for a suggestion on which newt species would thrive the best in this type of environment.

Thanks!

Most are either aquatic with some logs to haul out on or terrestrial with a shallow dish to soak in or just regular spritzing.

I don’t think there are many or any newts that would make use of a true paludarium.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
