Hi,
I have a pair of chinese firebelly newts, I love them, such cute little things.

What I was wondering is, has anyone put spider plants in the "land" section of a newt tank? My guys spend most of their time in the water, but occasionally they come out. Is it safe for them?

I've seen some other people put spider plants in with salamanders, I just figured I should double check.

Thanks!

It should be fine. You will probably find that your nets will enjoy hiding in the plant ..make sure the lid is well fitting.

You can try bamboo also, mine loves sitting on them inspite of hiding, java and Christmas moss are good options as well try them.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
