Hello, I was hoping to put a sponge filter in my aquarium to see if it will do a better job. I bought one for a 20 gal tank, but since my tank is a 20 long, the tube sticks out of the water. I am assuming that is not going to work, correct? So what should I do?

the pipe that connects to the sponge filter can be reduced to allow it to be just under the water.
sponge filters use the movement of air to pull the water through and because the air wants to go up that is also where it will have the most pull.
sideways will cause the air to pool rather then flow up.
having the tube too far above the water reduces the air's ability to pull the water up and out of the filter.

try upgrading your tank, whats the size of the salamander

He's pretty small, still a juvenile. He's in a 20 gal tank that is wide rather than tall so that he has more "ground" space than depth. On his own he won't likely need anything bigger.
