Hello all,
Loving your community here! I'm Josh, a life-long amphibian keeper and breeder....but with frogs. I'm new to the salamander world and just came across my first issue.
I just unboxed a spotted salamander on Tuesday. It arrived alive but with an obvious eye issue. The right eye is swollen and appears to have fluid behind the cornea and it also a bit cloudy. The salamander is currently in a simple easy to clean enclosure for observation purposes. It seems to be behaving normally otherwise and even ate a large earthworm 2 nights ago. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about treating the eye? Looks like the start of a bacterial infection to me, but since the animal is almost certainly WC , the cause could be any number of things. I do have some MAracyn 2 on hand that I use with my fish from time to time.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
