These last few days I made some pictures of my salamanders that are becoming active again.

These are from my Ambystoma maculatum female in my outside enclosure. Both males and females are already active at night. I will soon convert one of the hibernation pits into a small breeding pond.

Today I went on a field trip and I found some Lissotriton vulgaris and Triturus cristatus under logs under water. The Triturus cristatus were small animals from last year, but they were already aquatic and that have an unusual belly with only a few black dots. There were a few frogs but they were to quick to make a picture of. I love to watch how the large red forest ants build their home.
