Hi all,
It's been awhile since I've posted here. I am temporarily housing a marbled salamander (Ambystoma opacum) and I have a quick question about substrate. I currently have a thin layer of coco fiber with a leaf layer above. I noticed that some fiber and leaf pieces are sticking to the salamander's body. I know mixing the coco fiber with other substrates like soil lessens this (and I will probably change this down the line) but I was wondering if some sticking substrate causes any physical harm to the salamander. Generally when I find Ambystoma sp. in nature they have some substrate stuck to their bodies. So I figure there can't be much harm other than that the salamander is aesthetically less attractive.
