Strange but True!!!

Ok, this is so strange!

A friend that I havn't spoken to for a few months told me this story, it's true - but I don't know how!!!

Ok, my friend and her boyfriend had these axolotls a few years ago (they now know that they were a male and a female). Anyway, like the urban slobs they are, when they didn't want them anymore they flushed them down the toilet! This was about two years ago. Anyway about a month ago, all the pipes in their house started getting clogged. When the plumber came to fix them all, he pulled out at least 15 adult axolotls and hundreds of babies of all different sizes, from 2cm - 10cm!!!! Most of them were dead - hence the blocked pipes, however alot were alive - which they stupidly put in the local river!!! How stupid!!! But anyway the two origional axi's must have liked the conditions down there!!! I don't know how they could have survived??? Cause everything from shower water, toilet water, water from the washing machine and dishwasher all went there - I don't know how much soap and •••• was in there but they must have liked it, cause if there were 15 huge adults and heaps of babies of different sizes, then they must of bread more than once!!! The water would have been so so so dirty and no air or anything, and there was probably chlorine and heaps of other chemicals in there too!!!

Has anyone heard of anything like this before???

I think it's strange!!!

had none of the axys morphed?

omg i cant believe they flushed em down the toilet!

maybe its cos they can breathe air as wel so the water being rank wasnt that big a prob...although id av thought itd burn their skin.

were the orginal axys there? did they get in trouble by the police or anythin cos isnt it illegal to flush animals? its illegal to flush though bcos they dont want the animal getting in the rivers. so how do they get in the rivers if it leads to the sewer? maybe the plumber found it in a seperate pipe that brought clean water for the house (i dunno anythin bout plumbing)

No it was a septic tank that they were found in, and all the pipes leading from the house to the tank.

I thought that they would be all deformed and stuff!!! All genetically modified and stuff! But apparantly they wern't! I don't think they looked at them all close enough to see if the origional axi's were there. and i don't think that they told the plumber the story, so he couldn't tell the police/rspca/council etc....

I just don't know how they lived and survived in those conditions!!!

YUCK!!!!!

its so cool that they lived though. n its like the axys got the last laugh! the plumber must av cost a bit..........im suprised they told u they flushed emthough knowing u keep em n wudnt b to happy bout it

yeah and she then had the nerve to ask if she could have one or two of my babies!!!!

YEAH RIGHT!!!

First flushing them, then letting them go in a river!!!

I wouldn't trust them with an electronic pet let alone a real one!!!

i agree i think thats crazy that they survived but i bet they had to eat the **** from the toilet to survive thats sick

I find it hard to believe myself. But septic tanks do have an overflow so perhaps they disappeared down the overflow, which might not be as toxic, and the result was an overpopulation caused some to migrate back wehre they could.

Who knows? Urban myth...well possibly,

i can't see what they might have been living on - unless the Evil Flushers were in the habit of flushing earthworms, strips of liver and other lotl foodstuffs...........then there's the water quality - having been on the sharp end of septic tank overflow, i can tell you that the ammonia stench about blows your socks off....sounds a bit like the alligators in the sewers *g*

do axys turn into canniballs in extreme cases? for example being flushed and having no food?

From what i've read/heard Axies are canniballs at a younger age until about 3 inches or so? Someone correct me if im wrong.

This is why when having axie babies you keep them in batches of sizes so to try and minmise the amounts lost.

I have no idea! I'm just passing on the story, cause I though it was interesting (verry yucky - but interesting none the less).

If you think about what does end up in waterways and stuff, it's hard to imagine how they did survive. They may have become slightly cannabalistic - but there were too many for them to be living off eachother from what I can gather. I've never looked inside a septic tank, but i'd imagine that there were a few bugs and things in there though???

You are right I think Charlie - it does sound a bit like the alligators in the sewers thing!!!

Jenny/Kim,
Best to say that young axies do have cannabalistic tendencies. But they grow out of it, factors involved seem to be age, available food supply and overcrowding.
Occaisionally you will see an adult take a nip at another.

yeah i though as much Mik,

Thats a better way of putting it.

Man those people should never be allowed to have an axolotl again!!! They sound horrible!
