Strange Ensatina Death

So I have been keeping ensatinas for five years and nothing wrong has happened until today when I went to spray them with a little water and I smelled something bad. One of my ensatinas was dead with a cut tail and smelly white stuff growing on his side. I am very disappointed and cant find any information on what happened.dea

might have gotten a cut then maggots got it infected?

I don't look at them much so that is what might have happened.

alright thats just my idea based off of what i read i do not own one of these so i would wait and see other peoples ideas behind its death and sorry about his passing :/
