Question: Strange question about axolotls and night crawlers

So i just fed my axolotl (4.5-5 inches) its first night-crawler and he ate the entire thing in one go (no cutting needed). But then i thought to myself.. since axolotls have no teeth and can't bite the worms in half are the worms alive while in my axies stomach??

Yes, they live for some time in the stomach. Not a pleasant way to die.
