I was wondering if any of you guys used any plants on your strauchii to lay eggs on. I know a lot of you guys don't use plants on these species but last year my kaisers only laid eggs on the plants and nothing else.

Stick with slate rocks or some sort of rock structure that provides crevices. N.strauchii seem to lay under rocks or in tight corners to hide their eggs. Good luck!

please read this paper saves some of these questions.......S. BOGAERTS, H. JANSSEN, J. MACKE, G. SCHULTSCHIK, K. ERNST, F. MAILLET, C. BORK, F. PASMANS & P. WISNIEWSKI, 2012. with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
