My male axolotl has his gills forward and his tail curved, and i can't figure out why

the water flow isn't strong, infact i took out the filter altogether for a week and his gills were still forward. The nitrite, nitrate and ammonia levels are fine. Theres no tank light and he has plenty of places to hide. and the tank is kept at 19 degrees! anyone know why he's stressed? Thanks

mabey it could be a bacterial infection or parasites, does he scratch himself against things, or chuck spasims at random times?

Nope, he seems perfectly normal. He's eating normal too

actualy mabey something fell in the tank, bugs with pestacide or sumthing. Take a sample to a pet shop and get them to check for something toxic etc.

are his gills long? long gill tend to just flop over. my axolotls gills are pretty long and they do the same thing.

is the tail curved right at the tip of it or just curved from the base. axolotls do bend there tails its just if its got a sharp kink right at the tip of the tail, thats when you should be worried.

No he has smallish gills :/.. and it is curved right at the tip. and nothing could get in the tank, its covered and i haven't used any chemicals at all :/.. and the window is closed so it couldntve gotten through from there.

it can get pretty hot right now... my tank was up to 24 the other day for a while :S maybe its just the heat? i suppose theyre not used to it, my water hardly ever gets above 20 all other times of the year
