So my newest baby axolotl is swimming around a decent amount and i heard him pop up the water a little while ago, my other two axolotls are perfectly fine and im not sure if he's stressed out or just enjoying the new environment. I have a 40 gallon tank and 3 hides and some plant decor and was hoping someone might know what is wrong. When i bought him he looked very very stressed in the tank he was in at the shop, he eats once to twice a day and just swims around a lot. Any information would be great :)

My guess is he is enjoying and exploring the new tank! Signs of stress to look out for is curled gills and/or tail, not eating.

Cool, thank you, he eats like a cow so that makes me feel good. Hopefully he stays happy with it then :)

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
