Sudden Color Change

I have had a male and female newt for several months. The male seems to mounting the female more and more. My female has now changed color suddenly. She was dark red, but now is a pale, pastey orange. Is she sick or stressed?

Caroline, it's hard to say what's going on without knowing the species of newt. What kind are they?
