I have an opportunity to buy a 150 gal tank that has a sump pump include (pre-drilled). I have never used a set up like that and was wondering what the advantages would be. They also have a 125 gal that is pre-drilled, I could install a drain, that is cheaper. Any suggestions / recommandations?

This explains it better than I ever could:

I have some diamond drill bits for making holes in my tanks, mostly for fitting overflow pipes so that they don't overflow when it rains (most of my tanks are outdoors). These drill bits are cheap and make short work of glass:

You might not need them, but it could give you some ideas if you know that it's really quite easy to drill holes in a tank.

Unless the tank is actually coming with the sump pump, and not just a hole for one, I'd be inclined to patch over the hole and not bother with a sump. Internal filters are fine for my needs and keep things simple.
