I've heard so many different things and i really can't find a staright answer :/
when feeding frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp cubes to axolotls, is it harmful if you dont defrost it first?
My axolotls seem to love swallowing the frozen cubes but it kinda seems like it could damage their insides?

Im not too sure to be honest I cant see it would do that much damage, but if in doubt as always leave it out, or in your case defrost, im sure well have an axi whizz tell us the correct way soon :) x

Its handy they do like them frozen because otherwise they get everywhere!!

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, bloodworms generally defrost or melt pretty quickly when put in water, or even when holding them. Mine begin to fall apart as soon as they hit the water. However, I may be wrong.

Blood worms and brine shrimp shouldn't be the main food for adult axolotls.

Yes i back mrs peckles up on that, bloodworms are like a packet of crisps and earthworms are like a roast dinner :) Although one of my axolotls will only eat bloodworms at the moment, and not worms madness, maybe he decided to go on a diet:rofl:

on the occasion when i do feed them i run the frozen cube under hot water for a few second so it only half melts, its still in the cube but the sharp bits are gone and there are bits of bloodworm falling off. That way it cant really hurt them once it goes down. I have always wondered about the tempurature though, do they get brain freezes? it would be pretty cold :D
