I just noticed my male golden has a rather large swollen cloaca. He doesn't seem to be moving his back legs as much (could just be from discomfort?)and his back was slightly arched. The water parameters are within safe range and the temp is at 65.6. He seems rather thinner than usual. I don't see protruding tissue to indicate a prolapse. Any ideas what would cause this?

My male's has gone slightly like that, with the goosefleshing around it, but his swells at different times of the day.
I really wish I could offer some advice. Sorry.

maybe it's normal? Iv'e also noticed the swelling go down at different times of the day. At the moment, his back legs aren't moving he's so swollen.

Is it posable he ate some thing like a rock or snail some thing he cant pass? Just a thought.

I don't have any rocks or snails in the tank. I have a sand substrate. I suppose sand could be a problem. Thanks for your input Sara and Karrie! I'll keep a close eye on him. I don't know what else I could do for him.

i am not really sure if it is much, but its worth calling a vet (if you have any near you)
