Hi y'all - I'm new here and hope I'm doing this right. :)

I joined this community today with desperate hopes of guidance for my sick Gilly. We fed him 2 worms at night and woke up to him extremely swollen in the chin/neck area. I do feel it went down a wee bit after a significant poo. Anyone experienced this? I have had him in the fridge for 24 hours now, this happened Wednesday morning last week I believe.

He is still very active, gills look fine and does not seem to be bothered other than he cannot eat. :/

Thanks so much for any insight!

This is a pretty common bacterial infection it looks like and you need to get him to a vet who can diagnose and prescribe proper antibiotics.

there was an incidence of another axolotl with the same symptoms on this forum a week or so ago, might be worth while reaching out to that person to find what treatment was effective.
as was also stated here already though, it does look like an infection and may require medication from a vet.
