T. kweichowensis crocodile newts

Ed K. was kind enough to send a quick e-mail regarding the Kweichowensis. Looks like on Monday I'll be getting a prescription for some Silvadene Cream 1%. Ed mentioned that he's used Silvadene and it's quite effective. That's very positive. Until then, I'm forced to use Polysporin to keep the wounds clean. Thanks all for the help, hopefully by next spring I'll have some eggs from these guys.

Also a little update with my replacement male. I've spoken with the man I've acquired them from. He's sending another out Monday. As a good gesture he has asked me if I would care to add anything to the package just to let him know. So I immediately jumped at the chance to add another female to the group. That's going to bring my total to 2.3 male to female ratio.

Hello Anthony,
You have been getting some very good advice. It sounds like your animals are in good hands. When I had my animals in quarantine I did place a small water container in each enclosure however. The reason that I did this was because I did not change the paper towels everyday (unless they were soiled) and every once in a while the towels in a given enclosure would dry up from one day to the next.

Hey Chip, thanks, I've been given so much great information regarding these guys that I'm hoping my practices do some good. I've been misting once a day so as not to get them to dried out during quarantine. Hopefully this is advisable. Seems to be working. I did however not follow my own advice today and tried to feed them. None were interested, so it looks like I'm going to wait 2 days and try again. Is it alright to mist them once a day after changing paper towel?

I mist everyday in all of my enclosures that do not have a sizeable amount of water already present. I cannot remember the exact percentages (maybe around 20%???) but humidity levels in the average american household are usually quite low.

Thanks for the reply Chip..........guess I'll see how it goes.
