My T. marmoratus group were kept in a terrestrial set up for several months. Recently I noticed the males hanging around the water bowl and their crests started growing. I put all the newts in an aquarium two days ago - the males went straight in but the females are staying on land (island incorporated into the tank background). Does anyone have a general idea about how long it might take the females to join the males? Feeding them on the island is awkward so I'm wondering if it's worth it putting them back into the terrarium for a while.

I'd leave them in the aquarium, they'll then hop in when ready. I had a new male who was reluctant to go in, at feeding I would leave a couple of worms by him..these rarely stayed and would drop into the water. He quickly followed and now is merrily pottering around the bottom pestering the females
