I posted this to cynops orentalis part of the website about a week ago with no responses but I have a 55 Gallon Aquarium with 11 Cynops Orentalis (Chinese Fire Belly Newts) and looking to change up the look of my tank and looking for aquarium ideas. Could owners of Cynops Orentails or really any newt owner post some pics of their setups? I'd love to see what everyone is working with! Not many good pics online. I have attached a pic of my tank when i first set it up. Looks alot more clearer now but I am just Not necessarily happy with what it looks like. Looking for some good inspiration! Thanks

I have kept these guys in the past. The picture you provided looks phenomenal to be honest. I would throw some cork bark for them to float on just in case they want to rest. Other than that, I like it hermano.

Thanks! This is it right now currently. I added some more plants. I am just not happy with the centerpiece. It's a plastic piece of wood with a tiny hole that is used so that way it can sink but the newts tend to go in it and just worried that they will get stuck in it. Got any ideas for something different??

As you can tell I am going for a natural look. I added some minnows, bull frog tadpoles, and shrimp. The newts don't seem to bother the tadpoles since they are so huge lol but they occassionally eat the shrimp which isnt that big of a deal since they are only 10 cents at my LFS.. Hard to tell that there are 11 in there with the black sand lol

I love the natural look too. If you were looking for something different you could always add natural mopani driftwood. There is an article on here about what types of wood you can
use. I'd probably take out the minnows and tadpoles tho. Bullfrog tadpoles will try and eat anything and the minnows might carry disease. But ither than that it looks awesome man.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
