So I've been reading a lot how axolotls like hard water. I have had mine for months and I've been using my r.o water and they seem to be doing great the female even laid 2 clutches of eggs now. What should I do? Should I add crushed coral and make the water harder? And how so because the crushed coral I have is to big to put in the water I would be afraid of an impaction.

Re: Tank perameters

You can put the crushed coral in a nylon sock, to keep the axies from eating it.

I am surprised your axies are doing well in RO water, since usually the pH is very unstable (in addition to not having a good mineral content.) Are you treating it in some way to keep the pH stable? Do you have any rocks in the tank that could be providing the minerals?
