I am currently working on a major upgrade for my axolotl tank. I've had my boy Carl for almost 5 years now and admittedly it's been a learning curve. I got him when I was 14 without having done a lot of research. In 2020 I moved him to a 25 gallon tank, switched him earthworms for food and got him a better filter. He grew another couple inches and has been healthier and happier since. In doing more research I've realized I was still missing a few key care items. I've bought a water test kit because I'll be upgrading his tank again and I learned recently that I should have one. I also now know that new tanks should be cycled and will be doing that with the new one but I'd really appreciate a breakdown of exactly what the tank cycling process should look like.
I will also be introducing a bunch of new plants to his tank that are currently being quarantined for any snails. I bought Seachem Flourish tabs at the suggestion of the woman at the store. It was a shrimp store so presumably these are shrimp safe which I think means they're axolotl safe? If someone could confirm this before I add any to the new tank that would be appreciated.
Honestly I recognize that for someone who has kept an axolotl alive and healthy for 5 years it might seem that I'm lacking in knowledge but I'm really eager to learn anything else that I might be missing. Pretty much any advice is welcome.

do not use seachem flourish as among the ingredients are Ferrous Gluconate and Copper Sulfate.
