Taricha Eggs

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share that i have my first 20 eggs from my Granulosa's! Whoohoo!!
About a week ago one of my taricha's started laying eggs and the first ones a clearly developing!

We'll see how much eggs are still to come!
I keep them 50/50 land water and in summer i held them in a aquatic setup, no land just plants to rest on. I opened the window of my room and within 2 months the temp went from about 20/23 to 15 degrees celsius. Amplexus soon started and the female grew alot in size.

They have no extra lightning because they ar near a window and that way they experience the light changing with the seasons. In the past, about 12 years ago i bred them in the same way every year for a few years!

Hope a lot of those eggs will grow up to be adults

awesome! many people have tryed, but havnt been successful in breeding these, it seems more people are poping up with breeding tarichas

Well done! It is true that there are not to many people that have had any success with breeding this species. My father is planning to take out the deck in his back yard so he can make room for some tarichas in an outdoor environment (he lives in the same general area as taricha terosa). Hopefully in the next few years I can raise some larvea from his backyard.

Great that you have breeding success. It is an interesting time. The earliest I have experienced and read was January.

@ dane and dos: not to diminish Hugos success, but T.granulosa is regularily bred. You may mix up with other T. (sub)species.
