They realy are verry interessting animals. But i have to ceep a good eye on the male. He allmost drowned a smaller female today. I hope i can compleet the pictures this ore next year.

You know I allready saw the pictures, but I loved watching them again. Really hope you will get some youngsters!

Anyone know how long it takes for the eggs to hatch?

I've had one of these before, a long time ago. Quite a cool newt.

I'm very jelous of you right now. I don't even know the sexs of my rough skinned newts. I hope to have breeding success, but who knows...

Yes, that problem is very common. I think evryone who just start to keep granulosa is kept in uncertainty by those lovely newts. Good luck!

You are so lucky, I've been looking for some of these guys for the last 4 months or so and I can't find them. I had 2 of them years ago, they are amazing guys to have.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
